Meet Our Team

Louisiana Land Bank is led by a stockholder-elected board of directors. As farmers, ranchers and agricultural experts themselves, our directors understand the needs of our customers and the role that financing plays in the success of any agricultural operation.

Stephen Austin Photo

Stephen Austin

Chief Executive Officer

My favorite part of working at LLB is
watching our team work together to serve the stockholders of our Association.

I do what I do (at LLB) because
working in the field of agriculture lending allows me to stay close to my farm roots.

My favorite thing to do outside work is
hunting and fly-fishing.

I give back by
partaking in activities through my church.

The people who inspire me the most
are those who stay true to their beliefs.

I am most grateful for
my family.

Aside from food/water/shelter, the one thing I couldn’t go a day without is
prayer.

Shining professional moment I’m most proud of is
becoming the CEO of LLB, ACA.

Chris Bentley Photo

Chris Bentley

Chief Financial Officer

My favorite part of working at LLB is
the great group of co-workers, and providing the best financial service to borrowers in Louisiana.

I do what I do (at LLB) because
I can see and touch the end product that I had a small part in helping produce – rice, timber, cotton, sugar cane, soybeans… At LLB, we help ensure that those products have the financing available to make it to market. Louisiana is so diverse when it comes to agriculture compared to our neighboring states. It is exciting to be a part of that.

My favorite thing to do outside work is
spending time with family and friends.

What most people don't know about me is that
I like to ski.

I give back by
coaching youth baseball, football, basketball, and soccer. I enjoy coaching my sons and their friends.

The people who inspire me the most are
my parents.

I am most grateful for
my family’s good health.

Aside from food/water/shelter, the one thing I couldn’t go a day without is
a hug from my kids.

Shining professional moment I’m most proud of is
being named the Subsidiary Accounting Employee of the Year at Century Link. I learned so much from so many great people at CenturyLink and that still carries over to my work ethic and knowledge today.

Robert

Robert "Wes" Lowe

Chief Appraisal Officer & Winnsboro Branch Office

My favorite part of working at LLB is
working with good people!

I do what I do (at LLB) because
I enjoy working with good people. LLB has provided me with opportunities to meet other professional people in my profession that have helped me in my work. I believe our department provides the best appraisals of rural property in our state and I am proud to be a part of Louisiana Land Bank.

My favorite thing to do outside work is
spending time with family, watching movies, traveling & playing tennis.

The person who inspires me the most is
my dad.

I give back by
being a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church, Wisner, LA. In the past, I have been a member of Rotary Club, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, and active in Boy Scouts and Dixie Youth Baseball.

I am most grateful for
my salvation in Jesus Christ, and my family.

Shining professional moment I’m most proud of is
obtaining my "ARA" appraisal designation from the American Society of Farm Mangers and Rural Appraisers.

David Ogletree Photo

David Ogletree

Senior Vice President / Lending & Field Operations & Shreveport Branch Office

My favorite part of working at LLB is
definitely contributing to the success of the employees I work with every day. There is nothing more gratifying than to see someone succeed and to know you may have played a small part. The same thing goes for the borrowers/stockholders of Louisiana Land Bank. I’ve been very fortunate to have met and served many Land Bank customers over my career and have enjoyed watching them succeed as agricultural producers. That's very gratifying.

I do what I do (at LLB) because
I believe in the Farm Credit System, agriculture, and the people that make up Louisiana Land Bank. That's why I've stayed with Louisiana Land Bank for over 27 years.

My favorite thing to do outside work is
(that’s easy) anything outdoors - hunting, fishing, golf, working outdoors, and being able to do those things with my family.

What most people don't know about me is that
that I have a creative side! While my career in banking has meant working with numbers, financial ratios, etc., I enjoy music and writing when I can make time for the right side of my brain.

The people who inspire me the most are
many. I’d have to start with my parents who taught me how to be kind, compassionate, and caring for others. In my working career, I can start with a gentleman named Bill Crawford who first hired me in 1987. That was a leap of faith. My mentor for many years, former LLB CEO, Darrel Jans. He taught me how to treat people with kindness and compassion. Today, I am with another leader in current CEO, Stephen Austin, who has that same compassion and kindness for people. I’ve been fortunate to have worked with those people.

I give back by
reminding myself every day that it’s not about me. As long as I remember that, giving back is easy - whether financially or with my time.

I am most grateful for
a wonderful wife of 23 years and two sons whom I am very proud of. My oldest son just turned 21 years old while serving his country as a United States Marine in Afghanistan. My youngest son is a freshman in high school. He is a good kid and is well on his way to being a good man. Those two have somehow managed to stay out of trouble. There's a lot to be said for that. I'm proud of them.

Aside from food/water/shelter, the one thing I couldn’t go a day without is
the grace and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

Shining professional moment I’m most proud of is
when I was given the opportunity to take on my current role as SVP Lending at Louisiana Land Bank. It came at a difficult time for the organization and there were difficult times for me early on in that role. But to see the success of the organization and its employees in recent years is very rewarding. To think that I have played a small part in that success is shining for me. I'm looking forward to many more shining years at Louisiana Land Bank.

Brian Turner Photo

Brian Turner

Chief Credit Officer

My favorite part of working at LLB is
the unique environment. I've learned more about risk management in the past 3 years than I would have in a 30-year career with anyone else.

The person who inspires me the most is
my dad. He worked long hours and even many weekends with only modest means but always seemed to be grateful for the little things in life. It's easy to admire that attitude but tough to live it. I'm just glad that I have a good teacher.

Shining professional moment I’m most proud of is
when I was given a chance to be part of a management team that restored confidence in this organization's character.

My favorite part of working at LLB is
being able to meet people and help them in some small way to achieve the dream of owning their own piece of land.

I do what I do (at LLB) because
I am a people person and a hands-on kind of guy. I enjoy meeting new customers and helping the many friends I have made over the past 27 years. Having grown up on a rice, soybean, cattle and quarter horse operation, I have many interests from production agriculture to livestock operations both beef cattle and equines alike.

My favorite thing to do outside work is
raising F1 Brahman X Hereford cattle, and running quarter horses on my farm in Evangeline parish. I have been very involved in rodeo as I am an avid team roper. I got involved with Louisiana High School Rodeo many years ago when my children both showed an interest in the sport. I am very proud to say that both my daughter, Sarah and my son, Camron were both Louisiana High School Champions.

What most people don't know about me is that
that I never thought I would work in an office job. Being raised on the farm, I just knew I would follow in my dad's footsteps and farm for a living.

The people who inspire me the most are
my parents. They always told me that there is nothing you can't do if you put your mind to it and stick with it. They also taught me to treat others the way I want to be treated.

I give back by
volunteering as a youth softball and baseball coach in my home town and also at the 4-H livestock shows in my home parish. I also help many young boys and girls who want to learn how to ride and/or rope as I have a roping pen at my home and always welcome anyone that wants to learn.

I am most grateful for
my wife and my children.

Aside from food/water/shelter, the one thing I couldn’t go a day without is
living in the area of the country that I live in. I have traveled to many different states and also to other countries and there is NO Place Like HOME!

My favorite part of working at LLB is
having the opportunity to assist our borrowers in their effort to pursue their passions. Whether purchasing the hunting property they have always desired or the multi-generational family farm, it is extremely rewarding to the able to share in their experience.

I do what I do (at LLB) because
each work day provides a unique experience. From closing loans out in the field, to taking applications at our borrowers’ home or business, to going to inspect timber tracts, each day is day sure to bring a new experience.

My favorite thing to do outside work is
making memories with family and friends. Whether sitting by a fire at the hunting camp or wetting a line in the bayou, it’s the time spent together that is most important.

What most people don’t know about me is
I have a twin brother. Being a twin has been a very rewarding experience as we have always pushed each other to better ourselves through competition.

The person who inspires me most is
my mother. She has taught me the value of hard work and putting others before oneself. She has been an excellent role model in my life.

My favorite part of working at LLB is
the people and the relationships I have been a part of building! Over the past 2 years I feel like I have become part of a "family" rather than an association. Although my time with LLB seems short compared to most, I feel like in just a short period of time I have experienced a group of people stick together through the storm and celebrate together after the storm passed.

I do what I do (at LLB) because
I believe that when you feel like you are truly a part of a team, and not just an employee, you will go above and beyond to see your team succeed! I take pride in knowing that I am a part of the Land Bank and will continue to do my part to see it succeed and build new relationships!

My favorite part of working at LLB is
the autonomy and not having to be tied to my desk five days a week. I form and cultivate personal relationships with current and potential customers, members of my local and surrounding community as well as others that operate in the agricultural industry across the state. I enjoy going out and meeting with current and potential customers and looking at land, but I also enjoy the analytical side. There is something about crunching large, complex credits that I really enjoy, and it makes a work day go by in a flash.

I do what I do (at LLB) because
I enjoy it so much and the people here are the best. It truly is a family atmosphere at Louisiana Land Bank.

My favorite thing to do outside work is
hunting, fishing, watching LSU sports & riding around on the farm.

My favorite part of working at LLB is
the people I work with and the customers that I serve. I have been blessed to be surrounded by great quality people. Many of these customers and fellow employees have become some of my closest friends. Rural land owners are the backbone of this country.

I do what I do (at LLB) because
my career has provided me with a passion for rural real estate ownership, of which the Ark-La-Tex area provides great opportunity. Rural land ownership provides not only an additional income source with asset diversification, but it can also provide enjoyment. The enjoyment of land ownership may be difficult to measure monetarily, but it can help provide an emotional bond with a family member or friend. I don't know of any stock or bond that can accomplish this. A child or grandchild, who inherits family land, inherits a long term, enjoyable connection to the family as compared to inheriting cash that can disappear quickly. I enjoy working for the Louisiana Land Bank, who provides the best financing gateway to help make a land ownership dream come true. Whether it is a home site purchase, a purchase of an income producing timber tract, or purchase of a hunting paradise, it is rewarding for me to be able to help in any way I can.

My favorite thing to do outside work is
spending time with my family on our farm most of all. I live on a Caddo Parish cattle and timber farm southwest of Shreveport, where my immediate and much of my extended family live. My stress level usually drops once I hit the Fielder Farm gravel road.

What most people don't know about me is that
I enjoy kayaking. My son graduated from high school in 2013, which left a pretty big void. I filled it with kayaking. Since 2013, I have kayaked several water bodies. Some of my favorite water escapes are Broken Bow Oklahoma, Buffalo River Arkansas, Cross Bayou, Twelve Mile Bayou, Red River, Bodcau Bayou, Dorcheat Bayou, Cypress Lake and Cross Lake. It provides me with great exercise and is a good stress relief.

The people who inspire me the most are
two people. My mom and dad are my champions in life and deserve an MVP award. My parents recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. They have provided a consistent support role for me as well as a great example to follow. They both love each other greatly and are best friends. They have challenged me in life to be a better person, and to think of others first. When I grow up, I want to be like them!

I give back by
through my church, Westview Christian Church, where I’m a deacon. I serve a wonderful church who loves the Lord. I have coached girls’ basketball, as well as boys’ baseball, football and soccer.

I am most grateful for
my savior Jesus Christ. I am blessed to have a loving family and friends. I am so grateful to live in the United States of America, where I have freedom. I am humbled by the many soldiers that have sacrificed greatly for the freedom that I have today.

Aside from food/water/shelter, the one thing I couldn’t go a day without is
my salvation and my family.

Shining professional moment I’m most proud of is
working with David Ogletree most of my career – this has provided many cherished memories. The Shreveport Branch portfolio volume increased by over 3 times its size from 1992, which was when we began working together. Also, being able to hire the current Shreveport team is one of my most proud moments. I am truly blessed to work with great partners at the Shreveport Branch and I look forward to making some great moments in the future.

My favorite part of working at LLB is
I enjoy the personal interaction with other LLB employees and with customers/prospects on a daily basis. I truly feel like we are all members of the LLB family.

I do what I do (at LLB) because
when we lived in Bastrop, LA, and I worked for a commercial bank, I developed a passion to work with customers in the field of agriculture. Being able to work with this segment of the economy is a blessing to me.

What most people don't know about me is that
that as a kid, growing up in a small town in North Central Louisiana, I never dreamed of traveling outside of the state, much less the USA. As it turns out, I now have a son living in Baton Rouge, two daughters living in Pennsylvania, and one daughter residing in Stuttgart, Germany. As a result, the hobby that takes up most of my time, and money, these days is traveling.

The person who inspires me the most is
my dad. I grew to understand more about life and the important things in life by his example, and not just from his words. Even though he is now deceased, I can still hear him.

I give back by
through my church.

I am most grateful for
unmerited grace.

Aside from food/water/shelter, the one thing I couldn’t go a day without is
interacting with people!

My favorite part of working at LLB is
having an extensive commercial banking and sales background, I can honestly say that joining the ranks of Louisiana Land Bank has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. There is so much talent in this organization. The willingness to work as a team, sharing skills, and accomplishing goals has been refreshing! But, most of all, my favorite part is working with just some REALLY GOOD PEOPLE!

I do what I do (at LLB) because
I enjoy being able to help our members succeed and prosper in the agricultural industry, and sharing the love of the land with future generations.

My favorite thing to do outside work is
spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and photography.

What most people don't know about me is that
that within just a few hours of the F-5 tornado in Joplin, MO on 5/22/11, I was literally "boots on the ground". I spent several weeks (12-16 hours a day) working alongside my sister, who was a resident of Joplin, sifting through rubble the size of confetti, for any and everything (people, animals, family heirlooms, medals of honor, documents, photos, medical devices, clothing, etc.) all over the city. We helped set up Mission Joplin, organized food/clothing drives and had the opportunity to work with Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Team. It was, by far the best and worst time of my life! I am forever changed by the time I spent there, seeing such unbelievable grief, devastation and loss. However, the outpouring of support from around the world and the resiliency of the residents of Joplin was incredibly inspiring and restored my faith in humanity. As Jesus said, "Whatever you do for the least of these, you do for ME." I thank HIM daily for the privilege of planting me right smack in the middle of that horrific disaster!

The person who inspires me the most is
Jesus Christ

I give back by
volunteering, chairing and organizing charitable events, both large and small, for various non-profit organizations for over 30 years. Service to others is my passion!

I am most grateful for
being an American and having the opportunity to live, work, speak, and worship freely in the greatest country in the world!

Aside from food/water/shelter, the one thing I couldn’t go a day without is
my Bible.

Shining professional moment I’m most proud of is
being awarded "Outstanding Young Person of Lincoln Parish" by the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce in 1996.

My favorite part of working at LLB is
definitely the people! Louisiana Land Bank is like having an extended family and I am very fortunate to be a part of it.

I do what I do (at LLB) because
I can help our customers accomplish their dreams.

My favorite thing to do outside work is
spending time with my family, traveling, and sports.

What most people don't know about me is that
that I was born in Guam. My father was in the military and retired at Barksdale Air Force Base.

The person who inspires me the most is
Jesus Christ.

I give back by
helping others put together events. My daughter had a fall festival for some of the special needs children in our area and had a great turnout. Seeing their faces light up is so rewarding!

I am most grateful for
the servicemen and women that protect our great country.

Aside from food/water/shelter, the one thing I couldn’t go a day without is
my family.
